DMI delivers advanced digital media training taught by industry professionals in a state-of-the-art environment for the enhancement of workforce development.

The Digital Media Institute’s mission is to deliver high caliber training taught by industry professionals in a state-of-the-art environment and enhance workforce development in the area of digital media. We utilize a “learn by doing” approach and the instructors and administrators create an atmosphere that facilitates real-world studio scenarios. DMI’s one-year accelerated program model is the only one of its kind in the region and allows students get quality rapid training in a professional environment.
Our facilities include industry-grade hardware and software as well as a 1600 sq. ft. digital media stage facility. This studio features a green screen cyclorama wall, multi-actor motion capture facilities, and professional grade lighting and grip gear.

Community Development

DMI matches students and recent graduates with many different companies and projects in the community. Many students are placed in internships before graduation which gives them a smooth transition into the workforce. Companies DMI students have worked with include: Moonbot Studios, SwayBox Studios, Planet Aqua Group, Crafty Apes VFX, the Shreveport Aquarium, Somdal Associates Architects, Ingels Info Security, Music Mountain, KSLA, Sound Fighter Systems, CRM Studios Dallas, and many more.

  • Teaming up with a DMI graduate means not only working with someone who is highly skilled, but working with a partner who is supported with access to the digital resources, hardware, and digital assets of DMI’s powerful network.

  • DMI operates the Flex Lab model to assist graduates and companies

DMI alumni have worked on projects for the Shreveport Aquarium, including creating a digital display that resides at the Shreveport airport. They created the whole environment of this virtual fish tank, modeling, lighting, texturing, and animating-perfecting the look and feel of the aquarium. You can see a video that describes this display here.

The DMI works with with the Louisiana Film Prize film makers, an organization that hosts a short narrative film competition in the Shreveport and Bossier City area. DMI has engaged on filmmaker’s projects with elements like visual effects, title sequencing and finishing.

DMI is nationally accredited, which means that the institution is held to certain standards of excellence and meets the needs of its students, community and employers.

The Digital Media Institute has been approved to participate in the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements.

DMI’s online Digital Animation and Visual Effects certificate program, online Game Development certificate program, and online Digital Marketing and Design Associate Degree program are offered to the 49 participating states through NC-SARA.
